Chandigarh, July 18
Actress Kangana Ranaut will return her Padma Shri award if she cannot justify the claims she made about the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Sushant was found hanging on June 14 at his Mumbai residence.
The actress posted several clips on social media accusing several B-town members of spreading nepotism.
She spoke about the “pressure and rejections” she faced from B-town and the media. She also questioned whether Sushant Singh Rajput’s death was “suicide or planned murder”.
Now, the actress said that “if he could not prove the claims about Sushant’s untimely death, it will return the honor bestowed upon him by the Indian government.”
“They (the Mumbai police) summoned me, and I also asked them, that I am in Manali, that they can send someone to take my statement, but I have not received anything after that. I tell them, if I have said anything that I cannot testify, that I cannot prove and that it is not in the public domain, I will return my Padma Shri, “Kangana told Republic TV.
“I do not deserve it. I am not that person who will register (to make such statements), and everything I have said is in the public domain,” he added.
Kangana continued: “Tomorrow, needy outsiders like Taapsee Pannu, Swara Bhasker will get up and say they love this industry. I’m just saying that if you love this industry and if you love Karan Johar, why aren’t you working as Alia? Or Ananya? His entire existence is proof of nepotism. There will be articles that will make me look like a crazy person after this, I know. “
Earlier this month, Kangana’s team had denied that the police called the actress. Her team had tweeted on July 2: “Ms. #KanganaRanaut has not yet received such a request from @MumbaiPolice, but how and when she does, she is more than willing to cooperate.”
