A federal judge on Friday rejected President Donald Trump’s bid to temporarily block a ruling that could lead to a speech for his tax return and other financial records.

The verdict came a day after Judge Trump rejected his last attempt to stop the Manhattan attorney’s law firm from enforcing a motion issued to his accounting firm.

Trump’s lawyers had submitted a request for an emergency stay on Thursday pending an appeal of that ruling.

But Judge Victor Marrero wrote Friday in his order that Trump “has not shown that he will suffer irreparable damage.”

“The court notes that its views remain unchanged regarding the president’s chances of success on the merits,” Marrero added, “in particular the concerns raised in the August 20 decision on the effect of further delays on the grand jury’s investigation. “

An attorney for the president did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

The case of DA Cyrus Vance Jr., aimed at the long-term accounting firm of President Mazars USA, seeks to trace the president’s personal and business records, including tax returns, to 2011.

Last month, the Supreme Court rejected the president’s claims that he was immune from state criminal subpoenas in the New York case, and ruled in Vance’s favor. That 7-2 decision left Trump open to the possibility of arguing that the statement should be rejected on other grounds, or restricted.

Less than three weeks later, Trump’s lawyers filed a new motion in the federal court in Manhattan to eradicate Vance’s conviction. The second complaint alleges that the statement was “wildly exaggerated” and “comes to harassment of the president in violation of his legal rights.”
