Jose Mourinho has called the decision to revoke the Manchester City Champions League ban “shameful” and “a disaster.”
The City is free to play in Europe’s main club competition the next term, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport lifts its two-year ban.
However, a fine of £ 26.8million was reduced to £ 8.9million.
And the Spurs boss can’t understand why, if they weren’t guilty, they were still fined.
“It is a shameful decision,” said the Spurs boss. “If City is not guilty of that, then you are not punished with 10 million euros.”
“If you are not guilty, then you should not have a fine. If they are guilty, then the decision is also an embarrassment and should be thrown out of the competition.
“I don’t know if Manchester City is guilty or not, but either way, it’s an embarrassing decision.”
Mourinho’s comments come after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insisted the decision did not mark “a good day for football.”
However, the head of the city, Guardiola, declared that he is “incredibly happy” after having his European ban revoked.
Guardiola said: “I am incredibly happy with the decision. It shows that all the people said that the club was not true. What we won on the field we defend.”
“Today is a good day, yesterday was a good day for football because we play by the same rules as all the clubs in Europe.”
“If we had broken the FFP, we would have been banned, but we have to defend ourselves because we were right.”
“We can play in the Champions League next season because what we have done is correct.”
“They have to accept it, go to the field and play against us.”
