The High Spearrow has flown the coop. Deadline reports that Oscar-nominated actor Jonathan Pryce is set to portray Prince Philip on seasons five and six of Netflix’s The crown. De Two dolls actor will star in previously announced Queen Elizabeth II, Imelda Staunton, in the final two chapters of the Netflix series describing the royal family. Op The crown, the role of Prince Philip is portrayed by two younger British heartthrob actors Tobias Menzies and Matt Smith, but Pryce’s takeover of the role coincides with the time jump set for season five, which will sometimes be in 2022 on ‘ the air is set.
Jonathan Pryce is perhaps best known for portraying “The High Spearrow” on HBOs Game of Thrones, but has also had a long career in theater and film. Pryce won the Tony in 1991 for his painting of ‘The Engineer’ Miss Saigon, and scored his first and only Oscar nomination last year for his work in Netflix’s The Two Breaks. Whether Pryce gets old Prince Philip behind the wheel of a car or not, everyone can guess, but we feel it’s quite likely.
