Jonah Williams’ offseason transformation did not catch Bengals well

Lost in the Joe Burrow hype is the fact that the Cincinnati Bengals will technically make their debut of two first-round picks in 2020, thanks to the arrival of Jonah Williams.

Williams, after missing all of his rookie season last year, is a man the Bengals will count on to protect Burrow from that left-wing attack.

And Williams’ strict offseason regiment transformed his body, which was confirmed by offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.

“Really,” Callahan said, according to Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson, “what happened to him was that he had a year to reshape his body.”

Williams put in some offseason work with Joe Staley this offseason and was not sorry to share his workouts on social media.

More comments from Callahan say it all:

‘He looks like a pro, he looks no more than a college kid. His build and physique he kind of changed, not completely. But (when) he ran up to test when he first came here, I was like, ‘Woo, hey, Jonah, it’s good to see that man.’

Coaches continued to insist last season that Williams still put a heavy workload aside. It’s clear he’s committed to physical work this offseason as well.

Ideally, the first pick of the first round will continue to put it all together on the field for Burrow in 2020, solving a problem that the team has been plaguing since Andrew Whitworth’s departure.
