This summer, it seems like everyone wants to go to Mars.
With the launch of three missions to the Red Planet in 2020, at Space.com we thought it was time to take stock of humanity’s drive to get to Mars. Join us for our Summer of Mars webinar on July 29 By looking at the missions to be launched this year, how they will advance the search for life, and possibly help set the stage for astronauts on Mars. You can register for free here for the opportunity to ask questions by chat.
I will moderate our discussion, which will start at 12 pm EDT (1600 GMT) and will last up to an hour. We’ll start with NASA’s Perseverance rover Mars 2020, which is set to launch on July 30, and discuss the UAE’s Hope Orbiter and China’s ambitious Tianwen-1, a rover-lander-orbiter combo, both launched. this week. And there are more missions targeting Mars, like the European-Russian ExoMars mission and Japan’s Martian Moon Exploration Project.
Our guests will be:
Jim Watzin: Director of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program.
Jim Bell: President of the Planetary Society; principal investigator of the Perserverance Mastcam-Z camera system.
I hope you will join us as it seems to be an exciting discussion. If our live webinar is missed, we will also do it on YouTube and Space.com.
