John Lynch: The 49ers were not involved in Jamal Adams’ business discussion

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said Monday they were not involved in any business discussions about former New York Jets safety Jamal Adams.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco, Lynch denied that the team had any conversations with the Jets about the safety of the All-Pro that was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

“Totally inaccurate,” said Lynch. “We never made a call about the player.”

ESPN had reported that the parties involved believed that the 49ers and Cowboys were also involved in the discussion. Lynch clearly contested his informed participation.

The 49ers were one of the teams that Adams reportedly hoped could be traded, but the 49ers don’t appear to have been interested in him at the time. San Francisco seems reasonably well positioned in security with Jimmie Ward and Jaquiski Tartt ready to fill their two places of security.

Seattle traded two first-round picks and a third-round pick along with safety Bradley McDougald to the Jets to acquire Adams and a fourth-round pick on Saturday.
