John Legend performs Rousing ‘Never Break’ at Democratic National Convention

John Legend kicked off the second night of the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday (August 18) with a starring performance of his recent ballad “Never Break.”

Legend has it that he sat at a Yamaha grand piano on a first otherwise empty stage, and delivered an incredible performance of the Greater love national anthem of perseverance, with backing singers slowly submitting behind him to offer support.

The performance capped off a Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention that Joe Biden was officially nominated as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election in 2020. The evening also included speeches by former President Bill Clinton and 2004 Democratic candidate John Kerry, as well as a long footlights feature about Biden’s wife Jill, who also gave an emotional speech in support of her husband.

The Democratic National Convention continues Wednesday night, August 19, with expected performances by Billie Eilish and Jennifer Hudson.
