Joel Embiid Injury Ankle Vs. Blazers, decided to go back

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid left Sunday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers in the first quarter with an injury to his left ankle and was called up to return.

Embiid appeared halfway through the first quarter to hit his left ankle on the sidewalk under the court. After a media timeout of 6:18 to go into the quarterfinals, Embiid slowly walked over to the Philadelphia bench, sitting directly in the assistant coach’s seat next to the scoreboard. He showed up in some pain, grabbed his left foot and grimaced when he was seen by the team’s training staff.

He then walked around and talked to players and staff, including assistant coach Ime Udoka, and went first and sat in his seat in the back row of the Philadelphia bench. Almost as soon as he got to his seat, however, he got up again and walked out of the sofa area and back to the dressing room.

Then, late in the second quarter, he was suspended for the rest of the game. Embiid returned to the bench in the third quarter.

Embiid had two points on 1-for-6 shots and four rebounds in 5:42 before heading out the game.
