In a virtual press conference with Cincinnati Bengals official coordinator Brian Callahan, WKRC’s Richard Skinner asked how much he put on new franchise quarterback Joe Burrow:
‘Would it be so much like throwing a veteran quarterback into a camp? Are you trying to track him down or do you want to join him at a speed that is comfortable for him? “
The answer Callahan gave shows just how sharp and prepared the rookie is:
“We always go with the speed of the quarterback. And so all we do is focus on how much he can handle, the volume he can handle, and the speed at which we can place it on him. So far, I would say he has not proven that he does not need more time to study and learn than anyone I have run. So we throw it all at him. ”
Callahan then told reporters that installing his crime had actually not been a problem in the midst of the panic, as the crime took a long time to hit clean and non-virtual. Of course, he added, the team needs to practice together to get their timing right and see how things work against an actual defense.
In that regard, Burrow has been as impressive as it gets for a rookie. Callahan repeated the preparation of his QB, saying, ‘We have not withdrawn one bit, and he treated everything we threw at him. That it has been really encouraging and exciting in that regard. ”
All the news coming out (very early) of camp has been very positive about Burrow in terms of his mental preparation, moxie, and poor talent.
