Four black women are on Joe Biden’s vice presidential candidate list, the alleged Democratic presidential candidate said Monday.
“I am not committed to naming anyone other than the people I have named, and among them are four black women,” Biden said on “The ReidOut” on MSNBC.
“That decision is underway at the moment.”
Biden, 77, also promised that his administration “will resemble the United States.”
“From the vice president to the Supreme Court, from cabinet posts to top positions in the White House,” he said. “It will resemble the United States. It is critically important that this be the case. I can guarantee you that. “
The former vice president said he has not yet completed the background investigation process for his veep selection, saying it takes six weeks to complete.
“We have been through about four candidates so far,” he said.
Biden previously said that his running mate would be a woman of color.
Senator Kamala Harris, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, former National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Florida Representative Val Demings have been chosen as possible elections.
Biden will likely make his announcement before the Democratic National Convention in mid-August.
