With the rookies reporting to training camp Tuesday, the Jets were busy signing their picks on Monday.
The team announced that three of its teams have signed their contracts, including first-round pick Mekhi Becton. The offensive tackle gets a four-year, $ 18.4 million contract with a fifth-year team option as the eleventh pick in the draft.
DE Jabari Zuniga and QB James Morgan also signed their four-year agreements. The Jets now have seven of their nine selections under contract. The rest are expected to sign soon.
The Jets pulled Becton out of Louisville, hoping he could be the protector of Sam Darnold’s blind side for the next decade. The 6-ft-7, 364-pounder is expected to start immediately at left tackle. It is a key piece in a rebuilt offensive line.
The Jets took Zuniga in the third round from Florida. His contract is for $ 4.7 million over four years. Morgan was a fourth-round pick for Florida International. His deal is for $ 4 million over four years.
