DALLAS COWBOYS
Jerry Jones says the Cowboys may be cheating on his “then the line” national anthem … with the Dallas owner telling media members Wednesday that he is considering a new rule.
The 77-year-old, who has famously threatened to cut players if they kneel during the first song, now says he will have an open dialogue with his team about the policy.
Jerry told reporters he was currently trying to find a way that satisfies both protesters and staunch flag-bearers when it comes to the team’s latest national anthem.
“Somewhere there,” Jones said, “when we meet with our team while we’ve discussing with the team, somewhere there’s how we’ll handle it.”
Jerry says he has been in contact with several powerful people about how the Cowboys should move forward with the policy … and said that both past and present U.S. presidents have shared their feelings with him about the matter.
“I’ve talked to literally double handfuls of very, very involved people,” Jones said. “I have input from ex-presidents, I have input from presidents.”
“I have received input from a cross-section of our players, former players and I will continue to have input. This is a very serious matter.”
Jones stressed several times that he would treat the situation with “grace” … and added, “We will do it the way we think it is as sensitive and has equal grace for the true feelings of everyone in mind.”
