Jennifer Aniston spoke about the highly anticipated special “Friends” reunion that was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Early reports indicate that the special mid-August will go into production, likely parried and the previously planned live audience unveiled. The special will feature Aniston co-starring co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry, along with creators Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, reuniting on the stage of the original Warner Bros.
However, a Variety report over the weekend indicates that cautiously optimistic plans to shoot before the end of the summer have been delayed with a prime date, not yet certain, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the United States. Speaking to Deadline, Aniston notes that she is ‘sad’, the special has been postponed, but notes that she is glad she did not rush it in an unsafe way.

“Unfortunately, it is very sad that we had to move it again,” the star explained.
She added: “It was, ‘How do we do this with live audiences?’ “This is not a safe time. Period. That is the end line. It is not a safe time to do it.”
She went on to say that there is an optimistic way to look at the situation, explaining that the delay gives everyone involved more time to make it perfect.
‘It’s going to be great. Do you know anything? This also gave us more time to make it even more exciting and fun than it would have been, ”she told the outlet. ‘That I choose to see it, because the glass is half full that it has been put out. See, we’re not going anywhere. You will never lose ‘friends’, sorry. You have life with us, boys. ‘

The original plan was to reunite the gang for the first time since the hugely popular NBC sitcom aired its series finale in 2004. The reunion of “Friends” should be merged in April and air in May with the release of the HBO MAX streaming platform, but the pandemic stopped all plans.
The actors on the series have made it all clear that they want to film it in person after rumors circulated about actually doing it.
“There has not really been talk of doing it remotely,” Lisa Kudrow previously told reporters while promoting her Netflix special. “I mean, it was an immediate ‘no’ when this was raised. That’s not what this is. We do not do it remotely.”
