Jeff Gladney signs rookie contract, Vikings signings complete

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings kicked off the signature wave for their remaining NFL Draft picks by coming to terms with one of their first-round picks. They ended that flurry by agreeing to terms with the other player they took on the first day of the draft.

Jeff Gladney, whom the Vikings selected after negotiating in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to select, has accepted the terms of his rookie contract. It’s a four-year deal (with a fifth-year option since it’s a first-round pick) worth less than $ 11 million, fully guaranteed. Includes a signing bonus of $ 5.55 million dollars.

Rick Spielman and company had dropped on draft night from their original spot at # 25 in a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, going to # 31 overall. That’s where they picked Gladney, who was one of the highest-rated cornerback prospects in this year’s draft after an outstanding career at Texas Christian University.

We have mentioned the Vikings corner depth chart and the questions surrounding it ad nauseum over the course of this offseason, but you’d have to think Gladney’s going to be on the field right away. After investing a first-round pick in him, he’ll get started, it’s just a matter of where and how well he’ll hold up against top-tier NFL catchers. It will probably be a litmus test for him, but the Vikings seem to think he will be ready for the task.

This concludes the Vikings signing of their 2020 draft class, one of the largest in the team’s history. Now we move on to the start of training camp, where we hope to start hearing some news about players who impress and prepare to make an impact on their Minnesota Vikings 2020.
