Actor Jeff Bridge announced on Twitter on Monday afternoon that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma.
He began his post with a reference to “The Big Labowski”: “As Dude would say, two new teachings have come to light.”
“I have been diagnosed with lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I am lucky to have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good, ”Bridge continued. “I’ll start treatment and post you on my recovery recovery.”
In a second tweet of the same line, Bridges thanked his supporters and encouraged them to vote in the next presidential election, linking them to the website Vote.org.
“I am so grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and best wishes, ”Bridges tweeted. “And please don’t forget to vote when I’m with you. Because we are all together in this. ”
“During these challenging times our thoughts come out for Jeff and his family and they receive our love and support. We wish him a safe and complete recovery, “FX, Touchstone Television, Hulu and FXP said in a statement. “And, Jeff always says, ‘We’re all in this together.’ Jeff, we’re all in this together with you. “
Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymphatic system, the body’s network that fights diseases. The lymphatic system includes lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, and bone marrow. Although Bridge did not specify what type of lymphoma he was diagnosed with, there are two main types: Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Noden-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Lymphoma treatment usually requires chemotherapy, various medications, radiation therapy and in rare cases stem cell transplants.
Bridge recently appeared in “Bad Times at Al Royal” in 2018 and is currently in the making of TV miniseries “The Old Man”. Bridge has been nominated for a total of seven Academy Awards during his illustrious career, including one winner in 2010 for “Crazy Heart”.
