Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo’s ‘Savage Love’ dances in the lead in the UK singles chart race

A New Zealand teenager could be the next champion on the UK singles chart.

Jawsh 685 (real name Joshua Nanai), the 17-year-old producer from Auckland, leads the first official chart with “Savage Love (Laxed Beat – Siren)” (RCA), his viral success with American R&B star Jason Derulo.

An instrumental cut from “Savage Love” exploded on TikTok and created the “Culture Dance” challenge, which invited users to celebrate their heritage in dance.

The Derulo-voiced version flew 22-4 in its first two weeks on the UK’s official singles chart and is the best-performing after sales and broadcast activity over the weekend.

If he maintains his position when the weekly poll is released this Friday, it will give Derulo his fifth No. 1 in the UK, and Jawsh 685 the first.

It will be a white knuckle ride for the couple. DaBaby’s current “Rockstar” number 1 (Interscope) with Roddy Ricch, has only 317 adrift card sales and ranks number 2 in the sales explosion, according to the Official Graphics Company.

The Rolling Stones display new table legs with “Living in a Ghost Town” (Polydor), which leans at number 9 on the starting table. The legendary British band’s first single in four years was released in April, hitting number 63, and is enjoying a bang earlier this week thanks to its release on vinyl and CD formats.

Finally, South Korean girl group BlackPink begins at number 13 with their new release “How You Like That”.

His music video reportedly broke YouTube’s record for the most global in its first 24 hours, with 82.4 million views.
