Jared Kushner says Israel-UAE deal “should increase the chance” that UAE gets F-35 jets

He said this had become such a political issue in Israel in the last week, acknowledging that the UAE had been trying to get the F-35 for a long time.

“The group that wants them not to get the most is of course Iran, because they are right across the Strait of Hormuz,” he told CNN’s show “Fareed Zakaria GPS”. “And the reality is that this new peace agreement should increase the chances of them getting it, but it’s what we control.”

“Obviously we will look at the QME and we will do everything in accordance with the right standards, but it is what the State Department and the U.S. Army are looking at,” Kushner added.

Kushner's Secret Pressure to Sell F-35 Jets to UAE Causes Frustration in U.S. Institutions and Lawmakers
CNN reported last week that a secret pressure from Kushner to sell advanced weapons – including F-35 stealth fighter jets – to the UAE had caused and caused confusion among agencies and congressional committees that would normally be involved in such sales, but have been left in the dark.

Kushner supports the administration’s talks with the UAE on the potential advanced arms sales led by NSC Senior Director for the Middle East, Miguel Correa, a senior administration official said.

The tight stance on details of these talks has caused confusion about the U.S. government, two State Department officials and several congressional assistants told CNN.

Trump said the potential sale was “under review” at a news conference on Wednesday. He also said the Emirates have the funds to pay for the military hardware.
