Jamie Lynn Spears defends her sister Britney Spears in the midst of a guardianship battle

Britney Spears has the support of her younger sister.

Jamie Lynn Spears defended the 38-year-old singer on social media after an Instagram user made a comment about Britney’s mental health.

Jamie Lynn, 29, first shared a screenshot of a Halsey tweet, saying, “No jokes right now. I have dedicated my career to offering education and information on bipolar disorder and I am very disturbed by what I am seeing. Putting personal opinions about someone aside, a manic episode is not a joke. If you cannot offer understanding or sympathy, offer your silence. “

He also shared tweets from Nina Parker, Kevin McHale and Maren Morris about mental health in the same post.

Jamie Lynn commented, “If it is a mental illness or you care about someone who is mentally ill, then you know how important it is to respect the situation in privacy for the person and family trying to protect loved ones, no matter how it may appear to the public, and as an audience we must learn to do the same. I pray that this will not embarrass anyone who has a mental illness, you are not alone and you are loved. Sending all my love and prayers to all of you ♥ ️ “.

Then someone commented, “How about your sisters’ OBVIOUS mental illness? Why don’t you talk about it? [sic]”

Jamie Lynn quickly closed them and replied, “You have no right to assume anything about my sister, and I have no right to speak about YOUR health and personal matters. She is a strong, tough and unstoppable woman, and that is the only thing that is OBVIOUS. ”

Fans have been concerned about Britney’s well-being since she has been under guardianship since 2008. Her father, Jamie Spears, oversaw her personal and financial decisions until last September. She resigned due to her own health reasons.

Her mother Lynne Spears filed legal papers last week requesting to be included in all decisions about Britney’s future guardianship.

Britney postponed her Las Vegas residency as her father continued to struggle with a colon condition, before registering with a mental health center in April 2019.

“Britney was having a hard time dealing with her father’s health problems. Britney has not been drinking or using drugs or anything, she just has some very difficult mental and emotional health issues. She’s gone to try to deal with her problems before they get worse, ”a source close to the Spears family told Page Six at the time.

Her care manager, Jodi Pais Montgomery, currently serves as her conservator until August 22.
