The Eagles will not go into the postseason after the Cowboys-17 37-1-17 defeat on Sunday, leaving them as the only NFC East team without a chance to win the division title with a losing record.
Quarterbacks Jalen Hurtz and Guno de Dal started well in Las Vegas, but could not get any points after half time. Hertz turned the ball three times in the fourth quarter to make sure the Cowboys were alive in the last one week.
Hertz turned the ball only once in his first two starts and was adamant about turning the colored game into a learning experience. He said he believed he and the team would be “better off” in the future.
“That failure teaches you a lesson and that grief does nothing but inspire you,” Hurtz said via the team’s website. “That grief will continue to inspire me and I will be better for it.”
Hurtz provided a lot of hope for the Eagles when Doug Peders eventually pulled the trigger to start him with Carson Wentz. Sunday’s game was a reminder that there is still a lot of uncertainty about what the future holds for Hurt and the rest of the Eagles.
