The end of the series also suggests that Nick graduates from law school, from which he initially dropped out, although he only had a few semesters left to go. Nick Miller’s whole bow is strikingly similar to Johnson’s real life experience. But why? Because the actor also dropped out of school.

Similar to his persona on New girl, Johnson dropped out of high school in his sophomore year. According to Johnson during an interview with Off Camera, the actor has never enjoyed school. He had difficulty in class and received missing grades because he did not care much about the curriculum. In his interview, he tells Sam Jones, “I really believed that school was an opportunity to compete with the teacher for attention.”
Recalling all the times he was sent to the principal’s office, along with the long list of class assignments he had no desire to complete, Johnson believed he was not meant to go to school.
Johnson reports in his Off Camera interview that he had a long conversation with his mother about the question of whether he himself should continue with his schooling, seeing how nasty it made him. Eventually, they agreed that he would just quit if he had no plans to put an effort into his grades. That during his sophomore year, Johnson dropped out of high school.
Going back, Jake Johnson does not think stopping high school was the right choice
In an Instagram post on the actor’s page, Johnson revealed his regret at quitting high school. He explains how he ended up reading Cry, The beloved land by Alan Paton, despite being the book that led to his decision to drop out. Johnson leaves an inspiring message in his Instagram title, motivating his followers to push through their cravings. He also emphasizes his belief that stopping will only make things harder along the way.

‘I dropped out of high school at 15 because I did not read this book and did not want to take the essay in class and fail. 25 years later I finally read and love it. Advice to my teenager himself: things are meant to be hard at your age, but don’t stop. Stopping will just make the road harder, and longer, for you. ”
