Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens, Week 15, 20 December, M&T Bank Stadium, John Eisenberg, Breakdown

There was an idea, not entirely rational, that the Jaguars could make things interesting with their passing game. His quarterback, Gardner Minshe II, is a certified gunslinger, and the Ravens were without injured Cornbachs Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith. But the story never evolved. Anthony Everett started from the cornerback returning from the injured reserve and it was solid, which was an important compliment to the depth. But Minsheh’s biggest obstacle was Ravens ’pass rush, which was aggressive and physical in his best trip in many months. The tone was set almost immediately, when Matthew Judd kicked Minshu for safety on the Jaguars’ second offensive snap. As the game wore on, Yanik Nagaku was all over Minsu, with a pair of sacks, a quarterback hit and forced. Defensive coordinator Wink Martindale predicted that Nagaku was on the verge of a breakout, and Nagaku had a definite pleasure coming up against his former team. Going forward, the Ravens hope to see their pass rush in Sunday’s performance. Defense is needed.
