LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) Prankster Stephen Gilchrist Glover, better known as Steve-O, was removed from a Hollywood billboard on which he taped himself on Thursday.
Glover posted a selfie on Instagram, showing several layers of what appears to be black tape covering his body from his armpits to his thighs. Video of him being removed from the billboard showed that he was only wearing some dry white underwear under the tape.
“There is zero chance that I will fall, and it is important to me that we do not waste valuable city resources on this,” he wrote in the post.
Nevertheless, images posted on Twitter showed firefighters gathering under the billboard, in the 1700 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard, and preparing to remove him from the billboard and lower him back to the ground.
The LAFD confirmed that they were at the scene and that one or more runs could be closed until the apparent rescue operation is completed.
“LAFD helps enforce law enforcement in a single patient’s apparent behavior, one person protecting (themselves?) On a billboard,” spokesman Brian Humphrey wrote in a public safety warning.
Glover was taken off the billboard at 11 p.m. Video from Sky 2 showed firefighters stabbing a security helmet on the head before helping him off the billboard.
Humphrey said he did not require hospitalization.
The “Jackass” star apparently promoted his new project “Gnarly.” He was not arrested.
