Jack Edwards has brutally taken over from Andrei Svechnikov’s narrow injury

Jack Edwards is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons – again.

The announcer of the Bruins play-by-play offered for NESN a controversial Twitter recording regarding Hurricanes star Andrei Svechnikov’s potential playoff-ending injury in Saturday’s Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.

Svechnikov had struggled to position for the net with the Bruins defender Zdeno Chara when he lost his balance and landed in an awkward position that did not look good for his lower leg.

Although there was immediate concern for the 20-year-old winger, Edwards seems to indicate that Svechnikov was partly to blame for the injury.

“What NBC has not yet shown, regarding the unfortunate injury to Svechnikov: the Carolina wing who plays hobby horse, Chara rides on the back fork of the goal,” Edwards tweeted shortly thereafter. ‘You pose the bear, you take your chances. No one wanted to see Svechnikov hurt, but he bit more than he could chew. ”

But it was not Svechnikov who did not tangle with Chara behind it, but instead Sebastian Aho.

“This one had to stay in the drafts, Jack,” Hurricanes’ official Twitter account wrote back to Edwards.

Svechnikov underwent an MRI on Sunday afternoon, but Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said he “highly doubts” he will be back for the playoffs, with his team down 2-1 in the series.

Edwards had not addressed the reaction since Sunday afternoon.

It’s not the first time Edwards has gotten into hot water for his tasks that go beyond just being a homer, as many refer to him. The Bruins played Dallas in October when Stars defender Roman Polak first went into the boards and had to be removed. Edwards called it “bad hockey karma” after Polak, who has since recovered, tried to control Bruins forward Chris Wagner, leading to his own injury.

Polak’s agent, Allan Walsh, was among those who called Edwards at the time.

“I have great respect for the players of Bruin who sent best wishes. All classes, ” Walsh tweeted. ‘As for Jack Edwards, to say that Roman’s injury was’ bad hockey karma ‘while lying on the ice motionless is really a piece of s – t and an absolute disgrace.’ ‘
