On Saturday, The Daily Beast reported that Republican Party officials in Georgia were not all on board with Governor Brian Kemp’s attack on local masks.
“It is a disaster. It is 2020, we have two races in the Senate, it could well be at the epicenter of the demands for facial masks,” said an unidentified strategist. “This governor is very, very stubborn. When he starts chewing on a bone, he will not allow any dog to get close to that bone, this is something he is really digging into.”
But another strategist, Heath Garrett, argued that Kemp stuck to his principles. “I think he acknowledges that he is getting a short-term PR hit, but I think he is confident that our data is different than that of Florida, Arizona, Alabama, Texas and these other Sun Belt states.”
