When choosing in rounds 5-7 of the draft, which position group has the best chance of success?
My hunch is the offensive line, with the runner and defensive back not far behind. The teams have found some hidden gems in those three positions on the third day and the Packers have been no exception (Corey Linsley, Aaron Jones, James Starks, Micah Hyde, etc.).
As news of a shorter preseason or “evaluation period” became known to potential newcomers to our team, I was curious to see if the league office might consider having teams keep an expanded roster. during the first two games of the regular season. , thus allowing more evaluation time for newcomers? Would there be problems with player contracts or with the players union if this were proposed? Longtime reader. You sure enjoy your work.
I think the size of the active roster will remain the same (53 active, 48 on game day), but there is an argument to expand practice squads. The NFL is supposed to go to 14 players in the next year or so anyway. Since teams are unlikely to be able to have prospects that make as many visits throughout the season this year, it makes sense to give them more young players to develop each time the injuries hit.
Do we have to wear masks in games?
Yes, if we are talking about Packers games. That’s according to Mark Murphy in your letter to subscribers Friday and I’m sure it will be a popular topic in your monthly “MT5” column that will also be published this morning at packers.com.

The decision not to use St. Norbert College to house the Packers for training camp seems strange to me. I’ve been to university a few times and it seems to be a pretty good place, self contained and easy to “stick” along the river. The alternative is what? Does the team live and eat throughout Green Bay?
I don’t think it’s that strange. The Packers understandably want to keep players on their premises (where food is provided) and keep players in their own homes. I can’t think of a better bubble.
In addition to being a super cool way to run your organization that must earn tons of player loyalty, do you think it is morally acceptable to run an RB on the floor for a contract year because you know you will not re-sign it? I can’t think of another position where you can do that. I understand that they are contract employees, but it is also their future well-being and ability to earn an income that is in jeopardy.
Not if that is the only purpose. But you’re right, I can’t think of any other position where we count and touch as much as we do with runners. That said, I don’t know how many players “run to the ground” anymore. Those words make me think of Larry Johnson hitting the ball 450 times in 2006, not a runner with 200 carries in 2020.

What announcement that will alter the season will be made while Mike and Spoff are on vacation?
Surely there is one. Fingers crossed, there will not be two.
Washington is considering a name change. What would you change it to?
I dig out the “Redtails” logo that has been hanging around. We have made Capitols, Nationals, Senators, etc., why not something with a much deeper meaning and historical relevance? I’m glad Washington is looking into it. Is the time.

Regardless of what the main office is saying about the quarterback’s situation, signing Love with a fully guaranteed contract signals the beginning of the end for Mr. Rodgers and his neighborhood. I think most Packers fans are coming to that conclusion. What is the over / under No. 12 in Green Bay for the 2021 season? The only way I think it happens is if COVID cancels this season.
OMG some of you need to learn a thing or two about rookie contracts before you press submit these questions. Please. It’s not uncommon for first-round picks, especially 10 years on the rookie pay scale, to get “guaranteed” offers. It is not a slight for Rodgers.
Longtime reader, first time sender … I really miss Wes’ “Good morning”. Will he ever come back? Just wondering…
He will return someday; preferably the first inbox after there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the United States.
I know this probably won’t be released with the Outsiders Inbox entry, but Wes, what video games do you play? “Call of Duty”? Also, the next time someone complains about playing calling or says “they should have run this!” … I will simply wordlessly link you to that Adams video.
You thought wrong, Buckshot, but not “Call of Duty” for me. The closest I get is “Grand Theft Auto” and “Fortnite”. Otherwise, I prefer sports games or Pokémon.
What is your favorite palette?
Insiders from the country of the Broncos, this Packer sponsor wishes everyone a happy Fourth of July! Stay safe! And wear a dang mask! 😉
Happy Fourth of July, everyone. Now, if you’ll excuse me, there’s a plate of steaks and sirloins that call me.
