“It does not look good”: Fox News judge Andrew Napolitano dismisses case against Steve Bannon

Fox News legal analyst Andrew Napolitano said on Thursday that former Trump campaign adviser Steve Bannon could spend up to 20 years in prison if the government’s case goes against him.

Following Bannon’s arrest, Napolitano spoke out about allegations that Bannon was deceiving donors through a $ 25 million charity to build a border wall.

“This entity – We are building the wall – promised its donors that no penny – quote – would go into their pockets,” Napolitano explained. “So instead of putting the money directly in their pocket, they donated it to third – party charities and that charity paid the money, according to the indictment, to Steve Bannon and to the others.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced Thursday that Bannon and other members of the ‘We Build the Wall’ crowdfunding campaign were each charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to launder money. money.

“They have to make 20 years each,” he continued, “for the money they pay themselves in violation of their promise not to do so.”

Napolitano predicted that Bannon would defend himself by claiming that he deserved to be paid because other charities pay their officials.

“Their use of third-party charities to actually pay them – to hide the payments for the donors and probably from the government – is an attempt to cover your trail,” the analyst notes. “Because they knew they were misleading the donors.”

“It does not look good for him,” Napolitano added.
