Those familiar with FCC filing for the phone will know that it usually points to an imminent debut. We’ve seen the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL pop up in the FCC at exactly the same time last year, and now we’re seeing four model numbers that are almost certainly the next Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G.
The four FCC IDs we have seen pop up are A4RGD1YQ, A4RGTT9Q, A4RG025E and A4RG025I. The A4R prefix is for Google products, with the rest of the ID being the model number for the phone. By clicking around, it turns out that there are two additional numbers: G5NZ6 and G025H.
Clear Pixel 4A LTE and 5G bands for 5G
That means there are two triads here; The G025E, G025I, and G025H Pixel 4 are for 5G (Standard 4A has model number G025J). It’s fair to say, then, that the GD1YQ, GTT9Q, and G5NZ6 are for the Pixel 5, especially since it has been tested for wireless charging.
LTE and 5G bands for clear pixel 5
Both phones have virtually identical LTE and 5G band support, with one exception: the GD1Y (Pixel 5) has 5G bands N260 and N261, all pointing to MMWave support. Given the extra cost of the MMwave, we’re not surprised that it won’t be in the 9499 pixel 4A 5G. The project uses Soli Spectrum (and as we saw in the Pixel 4 FCC filings), 58-63.5GHz, absent at Pixel 5, which we expect, as Soli is rumored.
The Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G will be announced, probably in early mid-October, if there is anything to delete the first Pixel announcements, so we have a few months to go until everything is revealed.
