Issa Rae, Jordan Peele and Universal Team for the genre film ‘Sinkhole’ – Deadline


EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a hot one. Universal pictures, Unsafe star and creator Issa Rae and Oscar winner Jordan Peele (Salt) are teaming up Sink, a genre film that invites reflection that addresses issues of female identity and perfection.

In a low-figure, seven-figure deal, Universal beat more than 10 studio bidders and multiple bundles of talent and filmmakers for the screen rights to Leyna Krow’s tale, which is about a young family moving into the home of his dreams despite the large gap in the inner courtyard. The mysterious sinkhole manages to fix broken and destroyed things. However, the story asks, what if that thing is a person?

The project is being developed as a potential flagship vehicle for the on-demand Rae.
