ABU DHABI – Athletes from two UFC 253 title bouts had their first formal official standdown of the week after Thursday’s pre-fight news conference.
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (19-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC), who put his title on the line against Brazilian powerhouse Paulo Costa (13-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) in the main event on Saturday, and soon after they arrived in the city J was more serious than his previous run-in.
Co-headliners were also all business. Dominic Race (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will fight Jan Blechoviz (26-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC) for the Light Heavyweight Championship after John Jones vacated the belt in Jon Gust.
UFC 253 takes place on Saturday at the Flash Forum on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The main card broadcasts primulus on ESPN2 and ESPN + on a follow-per-view.
