Khabib Nurmagomedov came to the UFC with 16 professional victories. He claimed 7 victories in the UFC over a period of 5 years and was online to fight Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt. The company wrote in the UFC 205 fight that it would be the first fight card of the iconic Madison Square Garden promotion.
However, Alvarez missed the date of the contract and was later hired by the UFC to face featherweight champion Conor Mcgregor. As a result, ‘The Eagle’ was rejected and faced Michael Johnson in the second preliminary fight.
Understandably, he was upset and was known throughout the fight while lecturing on “The Threat” while beating him up. In the post-fight interview, ‘The Eagle’ placed his papakha hat on Joe Rogan and delivered a speech thus showing his frustration at being ignored for a title shot.
Khabib Nurmagomedov breathes after his 24th MMA win
He said, “Excuse me guys, I want to say something. I want to remain humble, but I have to speak because his boys talk too much. And you know how interesting I understand how crazy the PR UFC machine is. ”
Here, it’s obvious he’s targeting Conor McGregor, who turned to Nate Diaz in March at UFC 196.
“I understand how your boy plays like chicken at the beginning of the year, at the end of the year he fights for the title. Crazy!”
While the Garden was booing, a rampaging Nurmagomedov continued and defended his words saying: “Hi guys, this is true, this is not trash talk.”
In addition, he launched a strange comparison of the populations of Ireland and Russia, respectively, implying that his country is larger. Additionally, he stated that McGregor’s fight is the easiest in the division.
“Irish only 6 million Russians 150 million. I want to fight your chicken because this is the number one easy fight in the lightweight division. “
Speaking specifically about his 24th MMA win, Nurmagomedov chose to compare it to his previous 23 fights. He linked it up as a body of work to prove it worthy of a championship match.
“Hi guys, 10 years of amateur wrestler, 8 years of undefeated wrestler, but no one catches me, only one guy catches me today. What are you talking about this? Michael Johnson, thanks for everything, but what about your streak? 24 wins?
After asking Joe Rogan his opinion on whether he deserves a title shot, ‘The Eagle’ said: Come on, come on chicken.
Nurmagomedov climbs to the top and beats Conor McGregor
The UFC gave Khabib Nurmagomedov an interim title fight at UFC 209 against Tony Ferguson. However, he retired after a problem with his weight cut. He returned to competition at UFC 219 and claimed his 25th career victory. Three months later, ‘El Águila’ reached the top of the lightweight division beating Al Iaquinta.
Now ‘Notorious’ returned to the UFC and challenged Nurmagomedov for the title he never lost. At UFC 229, in a bad-blood fight stemming from the Irish fighter bus attack, ‘The Eagle’ backed up the words of his speech. He managed to get the first simultaneous UFC two-division champion to undergo a brutal crank in the fourth round.
Nurmagomedov continues to taunt Conor McGregor by tapping to this day. Furthermore, he is still undefeated when he enters the twelfth year of his professional career. He earned the title the hard way and will absolutely despise anyone who takes title hits.
Furthermore, one can understand how big their tie is, since immediately after this speech, ‘The Eagle’ has appeared in the Championship image without being overlooked.
