AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tested positive for Covid-19, the Serie A club has confirmed in a statement.
Milan said the Swede would miss the Europa League match against Bodo / Glimt later on Thursday.
“Having informed the relevant health authorities, the player was quickly quarantined at his home,” he said.
The announcement came a day after his partner Leo Duarte tested positive. However, Milan said the rest of the team, which was also tested, tested negative.
Ibrahimovic (38) made his first competitive appearance of the season for Milan last Thursday against Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League second qualifying round at Tallaght Stadium.
The former striker for Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus and Ajax scored the Rossoneri’s first goal in a 2-0 win over the current leaders of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.
He then scored both goals against Bologna on Monday when Milan opened their Serie A campaign with a victory at San Siro.
