Young man dies after accident in Co Louth as gardai closes road

A young woman died after a horrible car accident in Co Louth on Saturday night.

The woman, in her 30s, was the sole occupant of a car when it crashed on the N2 at Glebe in County Louth between Ardee and Carrickmacross shortly before 9 p.m.

Emergency services rushed to the accident, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remains closed this morning pending a technical examination while the Gardai are asking for witnesses.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí is calling for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí is also calling for any road user who may have camera footage (including dash cam) that They were traveling in the area at the time of making this footage available to Gardaí.

“Gardaí is also appealing to the occupants of a white car traveling from Carrickmacross to Ardee at approximately 8:50 pm to contact the Gardaí.”
