The Wolves accepted Tottenham’s offer of £ 15 million (€ 16.8 million) for Irish international Matt Doherty and the right-back is due to undergo a medical examination this weekend before the move.
Doherty wanted the change after 10 years at Molineux and is expected to complete the deal in the next few days.
His imminent arrival at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium means Serge Aurier will be able to leave this summer.
Doherty has been with Molineux since arriving from the Bohemians in 2010 and has played 302 games, scoring 28 goals. The Dublin club will receive a windfall from the transfer after agreeing to a sale clause that will allow them to receive 10 percent of the proceeds from the deal.
The 28-year-old will be Spurs’ third summer signing after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined for £ 20 million from Southampton and Joe Hart moved on to a free transfer.
José Mourinho needed to get stronger as a right-back after Kyle Walker-Peters moved to Southampton earlier this month.
Wolves boss Nuno aims to evolve the team, which finished seventh in the Premier League for the second season in a row last season.
The club remains in talks with Arsenal about Ainsley Maitland-Niles as Nuno looks for versatile players, especially with winger Jonny out long term with a serious knee injury.
