A woman died after a car accident in Co Louth.
The single-vehicle collision occurred on the N2 from Dublin to Tyrone Road in Glebe, between Ardee and Carrickmacross, around 8.50pm on Saturday.
The driver, who was around 30 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene and later transferred to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in Drogheda, where an autopsy will be performed.
A Garda spokesman said in a statement that there are local detours near Ardee because part of the N2 has been closed in both directions to allow an examination of the crash site by forensic collision investigators.
Anyone who witnessed the accident, especially if they have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident, should contact the Gardaí at the Ardee station at (041) 6853222 or the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666111.
“Gardaí is also appealing to the occupants of a white car traveling from Carrickmacross to Ardee at approximately 8:50 pm to contact the Gardaí,” the spokesperson added.
