There is currently a yellow status rain advisory in 11 counties.

It is one of three warnings Met Éireann has issued for Sunday.

The warning went into effect at 6 a.m. and is in effect until 11 p.m. tonight.

The warning is in effect for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo.

Met Éireann warned: “On Sunday, persistent or heavy rains will total 25-40mm with highest amounts possible in mountainous areas.

“This can result in flooding of some rivers as well as flooding of the surface.”

The UK Met Office has also put up a yellow rain status warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry.

Meanwhile, the yellow wind status warning for Donegal, Mayo and Sligo is in effect until 9pm Sunday, while the same level warning is in effect for Galway, Clare and Kerry from noon to 10pm.

Met Éireann said “winds from the northwest strengthened on Sunday with average wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.”

Met Éireann has said that the rain will continue until tonight nationwide, but will be lighter.

They said Monday will start cloudy “with more rain or drizzle.” “The rain will slowly clear to the northeast throughout the day with showers and bright showers coming from the west,” they added.
