A Wicklow elementary school sent several students home after a Covid-19 case was confirmed at the facility.

The Educate Together National School on Hawkstown Road told parents that those in the positive case bubble were sent home.

It is currently unknown if a student or staff member tested positive.

In a memo sent to parents last night, which was seen by the Irish Mirror, Director Sinead Watson said: “Please note that there has been a confirmed case of Covid-19 on WETNS.

“A public health risk assessment has been conducted and all close contacts are being contacted and advised accordingly.”

The school declined to comment when contacted by the Irish Mirror.

The news comes when an elementary school in Co Cork also confirmed a positive diagnosis.

The infection at the Scoil Chlíodhna Community National School in Carrigtwohill was announced today, and the Cork Board of Education and Training was notified.

The school has followed and implemented all HSE and Department of Education guidelines.

Meanwhile, a North Dublin Montessori was forced to temporarily shut down after a child tested positive for coronavirus.

An urgent letter sent by the Health Department on behalf of the preschool, seen by the Irish Mirror, explains that the HSE has contacted the parents of the children who are considered close contacts.
