As Cabinet meets today to discuss the new Covid restrictions, here’s what we know so far.
Dec. 24
Gourmet restaurants and pubs will close, possibly at lunchtime.
Hair salons, barbers, and other personal services like nail bars will also close.
December 25th
Christmas Day is expected to be the last day for people to attend religious services and then connect to the internet.
It will also be the last day that will allow three households to meet indoors. This will change to a home visit on St. Stephen’s Day and then there will be a ban on all home visits on January 1.
Dec 26
The inter-country travel ban will be reintroduced. People will be asked to remain in their counties for the next several weeks. However, anyone who visits family or friends will not be forced to return immediately, but when originally planned.
The travel restrictions are not expected to go back 5 km.
Restrictions on attendance at funerals and weddings are also expected.
December 31st
Flights from Britain will remain banned until the end of the year and then the Cabinet will review the measure.
Stay open after Christmas
All retailers will remain open, but Cabinet will discuss the impact of January sales, which may generate crowds in stores.
Socially distant gyms and outdoor sports such as golf and tennis will also be allowed.
