A high school in Co Westmeath is closed to all students for the next few days after a Covid-19 outbreak.
Parents of the children at St Finian’s in Mullingar were told Sunday that classes would move online during the week as directed by the HSE.
The coeducational school has more than 600 students, all of whom will learn remotely through Wednesday at the earliest.
A message to parents read: “In light of a series of Covid cases that affected the school and after consulting with public health, we regret that the board of directors has decided to close the school for Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October. .
“All classes will take place in the Google classroom according to the student’s schedule.”
A new update will be given to parents today.
The Irish Mirror has contacted St. Finian’s, who do not wish to comment further at this time while they await guidance from HSE.
In another update to parents on its Facebook page, the school said: “This morning’s classes are online as per yesterday’s parent notification. Please contact [email protected] with details of updated contact if you did not receive any messages. “
