No one is immune to Covid-19, warned one of HSE’s top doctors as the number of cases in Ireland continues to rise.

Clinical Director Dr. Colm Henry warned that everyone is vulnerable to Covid-19, and that means no one is exempt from following public health guidelines.

In the last seven days, the daily average of new cases is 120.

This is up from an average of 104 cases per day the previous week, according to HSE CEO Paul Reid.

But this compares with a seven-day daily average of 936 cases that occurred in April, at the height of the pandemic.

Everyone should maintain social distance, reduce contact, wear face masks and follow other public health guidelines, Dr. Henry cautioned.

Dr Henry told a news conference this morning at the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin: “We are all vulnerable to the virus. None of us have immunity. “

He said that many people with Covid show no symptoms.

Because of this, he said: “None of us is the best judge of whether we have the virus or not.

“So none of us have exemptions from following public health guidelines.”

But the HSE pleaded with the public to attend test appointments if they were scheduled to have one.

Up to 25% of the 3,000-4,000 of people scheduled to get tested each day don’t show up for the test.
