A suspected Dublin / Meath criminal gang is on the run after kicking in a door and looting a home in a terrifying incident.
A house in the Ratoath area was robbed over the weekend with a series of items taken by the crafty group.
Ashbourne officers are searching for the gang that attacked the Skryne Road home and stole expensive jewelry and a Stihl chainsaw during the raid.
Gardai is asking anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity in the area from Friday onward to contact them immediately.
A spokesperson said: “Gardai in Ashbourne is investigating a home burglary that occurred in the Ratoath area.
“The house, which is located on Skryne Road, Ratoath, was forced through the front door and ransacked. Various jewelry and a Stihl chainsaw were stolen.”
“Anyone who has been to the area before and who has seen any unusual or suspicious activity or who may assist in the Garda investigation should contact the Ashbourne Garda station at 01-8010600.”
It comes days after another gang had three of its members arrested following an attempted attack on a hotel in Ashbourne last week.
Gardai was contacted by the local Rogue hotel after three armed intruders attempted to break into the premises on 5 November.
Upon arrival, officers saw a Meath brand car parked near the hotel with two men outside and one inside the car.
Gardai searched the vehicle and discovered several of what they believed were weapons used for various robberies in the area.
These included a reciprocating saw, a three-ton car jack, gloves, baseball bats, and a golf club.
The trio were arrested at the scene and questioned at Ashbourne Garda Station, where investigations are ongoing.
