Viewers of The Late Late Show were stunned by several guests when the chat show returned on Friday night.
After a long summer break, Ryan Tubridy returned to our screens and viewers were amazed at the quality of all the guests interviewed.
The show had a packed lineup that included the girls who were recently rescued in Galway, legendary commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Acting Medical Director Dr. Ronan Glynn.
Dr Glynn gave an update on Ireland’s plan for the future in regards to the coronavirus, as he said the virus is still “under control” here.
And viewers raved about the top-notch doctor who was surprisingly thrown to work during the summer months when Dr. Tony Holohan stepped aside.
Diarmuid Nolan tweeted: “Dr. Ronan Glynn is top notch. I don’t care about his opinions on what should be open etc, he has a very hard job and is there to analyze and make recommendations.
“The government acts on that advice. The abuse of a loud percentage towards Nphet is disconcerting.”
Anthony O’Connor added: “A good egg, making his all-time best in a gale in one of the greatest crises in the history of our nations.”
Rowing practitioners Ellen Glynn and Sara Feeney also shared how Taylor Swift sang to keep going as they got lost on the Galway coast.
While they and the two men who saved them, Patrick and Morgan, received high praise.
Vicky Phelan tweeted: “These girls are amazing. They should be very proud of themselves for their wit, their stamina and staying calm. Well done Ellen and Sara.”
Dr. Sammar Ali was also enraged by the devastating loss of his father, Dr. Syed Waqqar Ali, a front-line physician, who died after contracting Covid-19.
Clare O’Connor tweeted: “What a beautiful tribute to Dr. Syed Waqqar Ali from his daughter, Dr. Sammar Ali.”
Maia Dunphy added: “This young woman, Dr. Samar Fatima Ali, is extraordinary. I remember her talking about her dear dad Syed over the summer. We are fortunate to have another Dr. Ali to continue her legacy.”
Legendary GAA commentator Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, now 90, chatted with Ryan as crowds praised the man for being the voice they associate with summers full of hurling and soccer.
The Taoiseach tweeted: “Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh at the Late Late Show.
“He is a very special person and deserves all the honors that we as a nation can give him. I know it is very difficult to see Croke Park empty at this time of year. But this pandemic will pass. And we will meet there again.”
Former Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony said: “The highlight of each year was walking back to that dressing room, putting on your clothes and going out afterwards and Michael O Muirahurtaigh yelling your name, win or lose, always left it in positively, as a young player it was like meeting the Pope. “
Irish Women in Harmony was also praised for her performance on the show before a quick chat with Ryan.
And Australian actor Russell Crowe also shared a story with Irish viewers last night in the time it takes a pint of stout to settle down.
The story involved working with a tarantula while making the 1994 low-budget film Rough Magic with Bridget Fonda.
