VICKY Phelan has shared her relief after scheduling her Covid-19 vaccination for next week in the US.

Limerick’s mother, who is currently undergoing a clinical trial, also revealed that she is recovering well after the fifth round of treatment despite some light-headedness and tiredness.

Sharing an update on her treatment thus far, Vicky said: “I recovered well after Round 5 of the treatment, which bodes well for Round 6 next Tuesday.”

He began receiving M7824, which he described as ‘Pembro 2.0’, for the first time in Maryland in February.

But Vicky shared that she has had some “tiredness and lightheadedness” from the anti-nausea medication that has kept her from experiencing nausea during her treatment.

She said, “I had no nausea, no vomiting, which is absolutely fantastic in my book. I was so delighted that I wasn’t vomiting.

VACCINE RELIEF

The cervical cancer activist also shared the exciting news that she is scheduled for her Covid-19 jab.

Vicky said: “I am going to receive the first dose of the Covid vaccine next Wednesday. I will make a post after receiving my vaccine to let you know how it went.

“I am so relieved to be getting vaccinated now. It will allow me more freedom to move around and be a tourist here on days when I am well.”

She added: “My doctors approved it, I consulted with the oncologist in hospitals and they said it was okay to get the vaccine on Wednesday.”

FEAR TREATMENT

Last month, before starting the fifth round of her treatment, Vicky shared that she “dreads the moment” when treatment begins because of the side effects.

She shared: “I fear the moment they start coming in because I know how bad they are going to make me feel for the next 3-4 days.

“BUT, as the song says, I know there will be better days.”

Vicky said she will have a scan every eight weeks to see if her tumor is shrinking.

And in February, Vicky also celebrated reaching her “goal” of celebrating her son’s 10th birthday.

BIRTHDAY JOY

Sharing a heartwarming video of her son Darragh receiving his birthday cake on Instagram, with the proud mom singing Happy Birthday in the background, Vicky said she wants to be around for her next two birthdays.

He asked people not to judge his son for sharing his birthday with his grandparents and cousins ​​despite confinement restrictions, as he “already misses his mother.”

Phelan said, “So it was my son, Darragh’s 10th birthday over the weekend.

“My goal when Pembro stopped working last September was to make it to Darragh’s 10th birthday. I have reached my goal.”
