Vicky Phelan has said that she is relieved after learning that she will receive her first Covid-19 vaccine next week in the United States.
The CervicalCheck activist is currently on cancer treatment in Maryland.
The mother of two shared the news with her 60,000 Instagram followers while posting a video update.
She said: “I’m going to get the vaccine, I’m going to get the first dose of the Covid vaccine next Wednesday.
“I get treatment on Tuesday and then my first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday. I’m a little worried about how I’ll be, but you sure know how usually I’m pretty sick on Wednesdays, so be it.
“My doctors approved it, I checked with my oncologist and he said it was okay to get the vaccine on Wednesday. So, I am very happy that I received it now because it will give me much more freedom than I have right now. “
Ms. Phelan said she was eager to explore the tourist spots when she gets vaccinated.

“Once I am fully vaccinated, I will definitely do a little more of the touristy stuff and visit more of Washington DC while here as I haven’t done any of that so far because I was too scared I would have Covid and that would interrupt my treatment. . Ms. Phelan thanked people for their support towards the end of the video as she talked about how much she misses her family.
