Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk wished his Dutch teammate Donny van de Beek the best before he was signed by archrival Man Utd.
The 23-year-old helped the Amsterdam team reach the semi-finals of last year’s Champions League and has been linked to a variety of high-profile moves.
Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag said there were news regarding Van De Beek’s future after the player was conspicuously absent from the team for Saturday’s friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt.

And reports on Monday claimed that Man Utd had agreed to a £ 40 million deal for Van de Beek and that the player had completed his medical examination before moving to Old Trafford.
When asked if he was trying to prevent Van de Beek from moving to Man Utd, Van Dijk said: “No. I wish Donny all the best.
“It’s fantastic for him and great for Dutch football. It is another great step towards another beautiful club for a Dutch player. The same goes for Nathan Ake. “
One player who will challenge Van de Beek for a place in the Red Devils’ midfield is Bruno Fernandes, who has been in brilliant form since his departure from Sporting Lisbon in January.
And Gary Neville has been talking to the Portugal international and the former Manchester United defender doesn’t think there is any chance of Fernandes suffering from season two syndrome.
“Bruno Fernandes was devastated at the end of the season,” Neville said. Sky sports.
“In the last few games he seemed absolutely exhausted, but the expectation, what he had done since he arrived, he played in each and every game, even the FA Cup game in Norwich, which was just weird at the time. I think Ole had something with him that he thought would keep him going. He was on a roll, he’s fit, he can run, he has a lot of energy and when he’s on the team we win.
“But there was definitely that fall towards the end where it seemed like he needed that break. Hopefully you’ve had that break now and are ready to start over.
“His attitude doesn’t tell me, and when you look at him, his performances don’t tell me that there is going to be a slump because he seems like he has that faith in himself and the courage to take the ball and even if he has a difficult start to the season, no you will lose the faith of taking the ball and going to find space, trying to play the pass that is difficult and trying to play the ball forward.
“That is the most important thing for me, always looking for a forward pass to try to unlock a team. It has allowed the three forwards to become much better. “
