Gardai has issued a warning as a delivery scam has threatened to ruin Christmas for some people.
A Garda spokesperson said: “As many people continue to receive packages during the Christmas period, An Garda Síochána would like to remind the public to beware of unsolicited text messages and emails warning of a package awaiting delivery and they urge customers to click on various links.
“Gardaí has recently received numerous reports of a scam where consumers receive multiple messages allegedly from An Post related to a package awaiting delivery and advising people to click the link for more details.
“While this particular scam involves An Post, Gardaí would like to advise the public to be on the lookout for any emails or texts that involve any organization.”
An Garda Síochána advises the public never to click on an unsolicited email or text message, never reveal personal data such as your PIN, card numbers or passwords, and never respond to such emails or text messages.

Instead, Gardaí would advise the public to take a screenshot of the text / email, delete it, and report it to the local Garda station.

Gardai caught a staggering 892 speeding drivers on Friday.
As part of National Speed Reduction Day, officers and GoSafe searched 186,125 vehicles nationwide.
A sprinter was caught traveling at 188 km / h in a 120 km / h zone in Naas, Co Kildare.
Another notable find was a driver in Rathkeale, Co Limerick, who was found traveling at 162 km / h in an area of 100 km / h.
A third driver, this time in Ballintubber, Co Roscommon, was found flying down the highway at 161 km / h in a 100 km / h zone.
A Garda spokesperson said: “The Garda Siochana and the RSA would like to thank the 185,233 drivers who complied with the rules and drove within the speed limit and would encourage all drivers to drive safely, comply and respect the speed limits. “.
