Two men who attempted to speed back away from Gardai before attempting to flee the scene on foot were arrested after a firearm and ammunition were found in the vehicle they were in.
The seizure was made in the Pinewood Green area of Balbriggan as part of the Drogheda intelligence-led Operation Stratus.
The Balbriggan Detective Unit attempted to stop the vehicle, but the pair failed to comply with Gardai and sped backward to escape.
The arrested duo, in their 20s and 30s, decided to abandon the vehicle and fled on foot, but Gardai pursued them and trapped them in the bushes near Castleland Park View.
