Two men arrested in dangerous driving incident in Limerick

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after an alleged dangerous driving incident in Co Limerick this morning.

The Gardaí has ​​seized two vehicles in connection with the incident, which involved a group of vehicles involved in what guards believed was a grumpy race around 8 a.m. on the N24 Tipperary road.

Two of the vehicles started at high speed when they were approached by Gardaí.

Gardaí followed them through the town of Caherconlish, where they settled shortly after.

The two men, both in their 30s, were arrested and taken to the Roxboro Road Garda station, where they were detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Garda Superintendent Dermot O’Connor said “The Gardaí in Limerick City have been particularly vigilant for horses that are not kept under proper control or when they are being neglected or abused.”

“Moody racing on a public road is illegal and dangerous for all road users and can put horses under tremendous stress,” O’Connor said.

“Gardaí will investigate all incidents of danger, illegal races in a bad mood and where animals are being abused.”
