Two dead and 16 injured after shooting at a party at a house in New York state

TWO PEOPLE have died and several others have been injured in a mass shooting in Rochester, New York.

“Major Crimes is at the scene of a mass shooting on Pennsylvania Ave. @ there are deaths,” said an initial tweet from the Rochester Police Department.

“At approximately 12:30 am, 16 people were shot while outside at a party at a house on Pennsylvania Ave. 2 victims suffered fatal injuries. In addition to the 16 shots, 2 were injured while trying to flee from the shots, ”the police department later tweeted.

Police confirmed during a press conference with local media that two people were killed and 16 injured after being shot during a “backyard party” in the city.

Speaking to reporters, Acting Police Chief Mark Simmons confirmed that a man and a woman, thought to be in their early 20s, had died.

“I can say that one of our deceased victims was a man and was roughly 18-22 years old and the other was a woman of roughly the same age between 18-22 years old,” he said.

Simmons added that it was too early to tell if there were multiple shooters. No arrests have been made.
