Michael ‘Mick’ Mulvey, a 55-year-old family man, who lived on the Darling Estate in Cabra, Dublin, was found dead on November 27 last year by his partner in their home.

The builder’s death came after he injured himself walking home at around 5:30 p.m. on November 14 last year.

Following the results of a post-mortem investigation, Gardai opened a murder investigation.

Brothers Ian and Daniel Connaghan were arrested Sunday night at their homes, both located in Ashington Rise, Cabra, Dublin.

They were taken to the Ronanstown Garda station, where they were accused of murdering Mr. Mulvey.

‘DID NO RESPONSE’

They were detained overnight and appeared separately before Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown District Court today.

Detective Sergeant Maeve Ward told Judge McHugh that 31-year-old pipe fitter Ian Connaghan “did not respond” when he was charged.

The Director of the Public Ministry has directed the accusation trial in the Central Criminal Court.

Garda Detective Ian O’Keeffe said 41-year-old unemployed Daniel Connaghan also did not respond when charged.

Neither of them addressed the court. His parents and Daniel Connaghan’s wife watched from the public gallery.

Judge McHugh granted a request from the defense attorney to grant legal assistance to the couple.

There was no objection from the garda. Bail in a murder case can only be considered by the Superior Court.

Judge McHugh ordered the two men in custody to appear via video link in Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
